Archive information from SI.All emails that you think are important for us to remember later. Does anyone still have the email that explains what all the new email lists' addresses and uses are? Please edit Email Lists if you have that info.

Reasons for putting this wiki up in the first place

We have untapped energy for collaboration at SI, and I'd like to find ways for interested parties to find each other. For example, doctoral students and master's students don't usually work on projects together. It might be interesting if we did, but mass emails are not an effective way for interested parties to find each other. So, check out Project Openings if you're intrigued or want to tell us about a project you're hoping to launch.

I threw up this wetpaint wiki because it's free, and it's pretty easy to use. I'm not arguing that it is the be-all, end-all solution to any SI communication problem. I just want to try stuff out rather than keep having conversations about how we ought to try something. We tried the Twiki, and it was too hard to use. We tried email lists, and we're still working out the kinks. The wiki allows everyone to edit and contribute, archives the information contributed, and gives us a low-stakes sandbox in which to play. Let's just see what happens.
